The European Commissioner on multilingualism Leonard Orban over March 12-14 will pay a visit to Romania. During the visit, the European Commissioner will meet with President Traian Basescu and with members of the Committee of European Affairs of Romania's Parliament, reads a news release issued by the Representative office of the European Commission in Romania.
On Thursday, February 12, Orban has scheduled meetings with President Basescu, with members of the committee on European Affairs of Romania's Parliament and with minister of Education, Research and Innovation, Ecaterina Andronescu.
On his second day of the two-day visit to Romania, the European official will attend the round table called „1989 – crucial year for Europe”, organized on the occasion of the celebration of 20 years since the fall of the Iron Curtain and of 5 years since the fifth wave of the EU enlargement.
The debate is part of the series of monthly colloquiums „European outlooks”, organized by the Representative Office of the European Commission to Romania, in order to encourage the dialogue referring to the EU priorities, closely related to the public national agenda.
On Friday the European Commissioner on multilingualism will pay a visit to Goethe German Institute of Bucharest where he will have a range of discussions with students, organized under the hallmarks of the „European Spring 2009,” an initiative of the European Commission for the promotion of its policies among young citizens.
