List of auto companies included in the first stage allocations - 20,000 cars – of the Car scrap programme is to be published Tuesday, March 10, announced Minister of the Environment Nicolae Nemirschi.
Approximately 160 car producers, importers and dealers submitted files to the Administration of the Fund for Environment (AFM) in order to participate in the Car scrap programme 2009. The list will be published on AFM site and from that moment people could go to the car dealers to register.
At the enlisting moment the validated producer will issue to the old car owner an acceptance note into this programme. The acceptance note is valid 30 calendar days after the issuance and within this deadline the owner must to hand over the car to be scrapped and to also radiate it from traffic.
The amount provided this year to run this programme is 228 million lei, the money coming from the car pollution tax.
Through the Car scrap programme 2009 the bonus was increased to 3,800 lei from 3,000 lei. As well, the programme allows the inclusion of cars older than 10 years (up to 12 years included) and a higher number of cars is set to enter this programme, from 40,000 to 60,000, as a way to aid the industry.
Owners who purchased their cars abroad can also participate in this year's programme, on condition that the car is at least 10 years old and is registered in Romania up to December 31, 2006, at the latest.
