President Traian Basescu received, on Wednesday, March 11, at Cotroceni Palace, the ambassador of Malta to Romania Anthony Miceli DeMajo, on the occasion of the presentation of his credentials.
According to a press release sent by the Presidential Administration, the talks with the ambassador of the Republic of Malta were focused on the stage of cooperation between the two states and the prospects of the intensification of the bilateral links, and of the ties within the European Union (EU).
"The Maltese ambassador remarked that the relations of cooperation have constantly increased since the establishment of diplomatic links in 1968, with Malta being one of the most resolute supporters of Romania's entry into the European Union, " reads the press release of the Presidential Administration.
During the talks, opinions were exchanged on the effects of the financial and economic crisis on Malta and Romania.
Basescu voiced hope that the actions of the incoming ambassador of Malta will contribute to the development of the bilateral links and assured him of the entire assistance of the Romanian authorities. Equally on Wednesday, president Traian Basescu received the ambassadors of the United Arab Emirates Yacoub Yousef Hassan Al-Hosani, and that of the Sultanate of Oman Said bin Nasser Mansoor Al-Sinawi Al-Harthy, on the occasion of the presentation of their credentials.
