Memo on cancellation of unprofitable taxes

Romania's  Government  okayed  on  Wednesday  a memorandum on dwindling the number of taxes and tariffs whose management costs are higher than the money they bring to the state budget, PM Emil Boc announced.
Romania's Premier said identified were 558 taxes and fees decided upon by 185 normative acts and whose management exceed the returns, through their enactment.
 
Starting on April 15, the Government will take over from the ministries the proposals for the annulment and the  reduction or  the  condensation of  some  taxes  and fees  in order  to simplify Romania's laws on taxes, PM Boc explained.
 
The step is aimed at helping the business people in Romania, FinMin Gheorghe Pogea said, adding that out of the 558 taxes and fees, 74 are of a fiscal nature and 484 are non-fiscal taxes and fees. Out of them, 102 go to the Environment Ministry, 50 to the Ministry of Administration and the Interior , 42 to the Economy Ministry, 40 to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, 37 to the Agriculture Ministry, 35 to the Health Ministry and 30 to Justice.
