Romania ranks 1st in EU in terms of rise in industrial output prices, in January

The prices   of the industrial output in the European Union (EU27) dropped by 0.6 percent in January 2009, compared with December  2008, with the drop in the euro area  (EA15) standing at  0.8 percent, according to data released on Thursday by the European Statistics Office (Eurostat).
With regard to Romania, the rise in the industrial output prices was 1.1 percent in January 2009, compared with the previous month, the same as in the Czech Republic, which were the highest values in the EU.
 
The most significant drops were recorded in France (-2 percent), Bulgaria (-1.13 percent) and Germany (-1.1 percent) in January 2009 as against December 2008. Romania ranks 1st in terms of the growth in the prices of industrial output (except for the constructions sector) in January 2009 as against the reference year 2005 too, with a growth by 136.1 percent, being followed by Lithuania (131.6 percent) and Hungary (130.3 percent).
 
In the same span of time, the growth at the EU27 level stood at 113.2 percent, while in the euro area it stood at 110.7 percent. The slightest increases were seen in Ireland ( 108.2 percent), the Czech Republic (108.6 percent) and Portugal (109.1 percent), in the abovementioned interval. Data were not available in making this last statistics from Slovakia, Poland, Austria, Cyprus , Latvia and Estonia.
