Loading ...The priority of the ruling coalition is to achieve the measures decided under the state budget approved by Parliament , and not to set up new councils or committees to fight the crisis and re -launch the economy, first vice president of the Democrat Liberal Party (PD-L) Theodor Stolojan told on Wednesday.
'The important thing, at present, is to ensure the enforcement of the provisions set in the approved budget.
This calls for a cut in the consumption expenditure and the rise in the investment expenditure, but we cannot do this by waiting for the fourth quarter, since we'll find that all the state institutions will cry that they have no money and the Government will have to take money from the invested amounts to pay their bills', Stolojan stressed.
He said he personally is open to any consultation, new ideas, brainstorming, but the ruling coalition should first achieve the measures it decided.
'It is not a bad thing to consult as many specialists as possible. But let us first achieve these measures and meanwhile we can pinpoint several others. Let us take it step by step', the Democrat Liberal official said. The ruling co-partners Social Democrats proposed on Wednesday to set up a Council on economic re-launch made up from the speakers of the two houses of Parliament, the prime minister and the central bank governor, that should also accept the most representative specialists in economic and social issues, who should coordinate the drawing up and implementation of an anti-crisis and economic re-launch programme.
PSD leader Mircea Geoana said it is the task of the Parliament, the Government and specialized state institutions to draft and enact an anti-crisis programme, that should get the approval and cooperation of all the decision-makers in the economy.
