The labour productivity in industry slumped by 8.6 percent in January 2009, against January 2008, on the background of a drop in the labour productivity in the processing industry by 11.6 percent, according to data released on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
In the mining industry, the labour productivity went up in January 2009 by 7.1 percent against January 2008.
In December 2008, the labour productivity in industry dropped by 6 percent on last month in 2007. The labour productivity saw growth in each and every month January through October, 2008, on the corresponding month a year before, with monthly growth pace ranging between 2.3 and 14.6 percent.
In January 2009, the labour productivity in industry went up by 0.8 percent against December 2008.Compared with the year 2002, the 2008 labour productivity increased 3.4 times in nominal terms and 1.5 times in real terms.
The labour productivity increased in the 2002 prices from 15,878 lei per capita up to 22,151 lei per capita in 2007 and 23,678 lei per capita in 2008. (1 euro=4).
