Loading ...President Traian Basescu on Thursday morning said on Henri Coanda international airport that he will meet in Luxembourg with the management of the European Investment Bank (EIB) , within the two-day visit he starts on Thursday.
According to the head of the state, the first objective of the visit is the meeting with the president, vice-president of the European Investment Bank and officials for East Europe, for talks on the stepping up of infrastructure programmes, financing of the domestic component earmarked by the EU for the programmes in Romania, the loan extended by the European Investment Bank to Ford and Renault units in Romania, both requiring the Government's guaranty.
Talks will also be held regarding the Romanian banking sector, for which Romania requires funds with a view to financing the sector of small and medium-sized companies, as well as technical assistance for the preparation of financing projects, said the president.
'For the economy of resources, I merged two visits – one in Luxembourg at the headquarters of the European Investment Bank and the one occasioned by the Summit of the European People's Party and the European Spring Council,' said Basescu.
Also in Luxembourg, the Romanian delegation will have a meeting with president of the European Court of Justice of the European Communities, said the head of the state.

In the second part of the visit abroad, the Romanian President and Premier will attend in Brussels the Summit of the European People's Party that will tackle the financial and economic crisis, and the preparation of euro-parliamentary elections, said Basescu.
'The spring Council will approach topical issues, among which the assessment of the economic and financial problems in the EU, an analysis on the use of financially endorsed structures for the countries of Eastern Europe,' said Basescu. Romania's President will also participate as guest at the works of the EPP Summit, which includes on its agenda the preparation for the European Council.
