Loading ...Social Democrat President Mircea Geoana believes there will be a second tour of the the presidential elections "between a candidate of the Democratic Liberal Party PDL and one of the Social Democratic Prty – PSD" and that Traian Basescu will definitely be the PDL's candidate.
"Basescu will surely run for the PDL, unless PM Boc wants to take his place, which I doubt it ," Geoana said Thursday in Albesti, Mures county (central Romania).

"If the party decides that I will have to run for presidency I will do it energetically," Geoana said. As regards President Basescu's commentaries according to which he was undecided as regards his candidacy, Geoana underscored "this statement is as true as the information regarding the early organization of presidential elections."
As regards PSD voices of his not being as harsh as Basescu, Geoana advised them to have a little patience.
"I believe they are making a mistake by believing that Romanians need a copy of Basescu. A surrogate will never be better than the original. Another profile, another model of president is needed," Geoana explained.
