Loading ...Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Cristian Diaconescu on Tuesday is to participate in The Hague in the "International Conference on Afghanistan: a Comprehensive Strategy in a Regional Context.'
The meeting is to focus on identifying concrete directions for action to consolidate stability and security in Afghanistan.

Moreover, the Conference should reaffirm the solid and long-term commitment of the international community to supporting the Government of Afghanistan, and to stimulating efforts made by all the international players, especially ahead of the presidential and local elections due in Afghanistan in August 2009.
Participating in the meeting in The Hague there will be also representatives of the NATO member states, of the partnership states contributing to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), of the countries that border Afghanistan and of international organizations (European Union, UN, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, OSCE – Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe).
With no special meeting on Afghanistan scheduled at the NATO Summit in Kehl, due on April 3- 4, 2009, as it was at the 2008 Summit in Bucharest, the Conference in The Hague is meant to introduce some of the important decisions to be adopted by the heads of state and government at the North-Atlantic Alliance's anniversary Summit.
