Loading ...The Government will be a genuine advocate of the press for avoiding the economic crisis effects in this field, as well, Prime Minister Emil Boc said on Tuesday, during the meeting with the Romanian Press Club (CRP) officials, and assured that the freedom of expression would be guaranteed in Romania.
"I came here to listen to the problems the press has been facing. I assure you that the incumbent Government has wished the press's freedom of expression in all its forms to be guaranteed in Romania, and it will always do. And if you have worries, or proposals for improving the existing framework, we are quite open to heed and enact them in the Constitutional and legal framework we avail of," PM Boc stressed in his inaugural speech.
PM Boc added he understood that the media had been also facing economic problems during the period and offered support for avoiding their effects."I also understood that the media, like the other fields of Romania's economy, have been facing economic problems during this crisis period, and unfortunately the press has been facing some structural problems too, namely the crisis' impact on Romania.
From this standpoint again, to the extent the Government, through the possibilities it has, can offer support, and you will have a genuine supporter in the Government and a factor to enable us to shunt the negative effects," PM Boc.
The press is also affected by the crisis, CRP president Indira Crasnea said. It depends on us, but also on the authorities, especially on the Government that the surgery should be also beneficial, Crasnea stressed.
