Nicolae Forminte, coordinating coach of Romania's women gymnastics team, declared himself pleased with the evolution of gymnasts Gabriela Dragoi and Diana Chelaru in the qualifying event of the 2009 European Championships in Milan, in the context the first gymnast has long stayed aside because of an accident and the other is to compete for the first time in a competition of this level.
'My job ended at this point, and what matters from now on is only how much they will be able to focus when the moment comes. I had two gymnasts evolving in this subdivision of the qualifying event, one with medium objectives, Gabriela Dragoi, who comes after a long period of recovering.
I hope she catches the parallel bars final, as this is what I brought her here for. She might also catch the pommel horse final, but with our seeds here being Tamarjan and Izbasa. Nevertheless, it's always a good thing to have a third player in the game.
Diana Chelaru achieved her objective to compete without missing. This is practically her first really important competition. I am only regretting her hesitation on the floor, for it would have been a different final ranking if she didn't miss' Nicolae Forminte said. Diana Chelaru: 'I didn't pay so much attention to my exercise on the floor and I missed doing what I had been doing while practicing. But I hope I will be able to focus in the all-around competition.'
