Loading ...President Traian Basescu received, on Wednesday, at Cotroceni presidential Palace, Peruvian ambassador in Bucharest Elard Escala, in a farewell visit, the presidential administration has said.
"The visit has occasioned a review of the relations between the two states. The two high officials have stressed the constancy of the Romanian-Peruvian links, underlined both by a common cultural fund, and, more recently, by cooperation forms between the European Union and Latin America," reads a release sent by the Presidential Administration.
The Romanian president noticed the contribution of the Peruvian ambassador to the upward evolution in the past years of the relations between the two countries. Both the Romanian head of state and the Peruvian ambassador have voiced hope that in the future, the relations between the two states will be boosted in the area of the economic exchanges.
Basescu has wished Escala success in his future missions. Equally on Wednesday, the head of state received a parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Cyprus , led by Marios Garayian, speaker of the House of Representatives. Basescu and Garayian evoked the good relations between the two states both on a bilateral plane and in the European Union.
A main topic of the high-level dialogue has been the global economic and financial crisis, stressed has been the importance the two countries are attaching to the implementation of the principles set at the spring European Council as regards the relaunch of the European economies.
Evoked has been the good bilateral cooperation developed in the banking sector and the importance of encouraging it in the context of the current crisis," reads the press release. Other topics on the agenda have been related to the NATO summit , the EU-USA informal summit, the policy of expansion of the EU, the security situation in the Middle East.
