Romanian President Traian Basescu told a news conference on Saturday at the close of the NATO anniversary summit meeting, that the allies agreed to support the regional priorities of the Black Sea countries, pointing out that this is a gain to Romania that has a special significance.

'Compared with the NATO commitments in relation to the Black Sea region taken at the Bucharest NATO Summit, the conclusions of the new summit meeting read the agreement of the allies over support for the regional priorities of the Black Sea countries.

This formulation seems extremely important to me. It remains that we continue working with the Black Sea allies, Bulgaria and Turkey, but not less so with the other riparian countries, and our option will be to get the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia involved in priority regional projects that will be accepted and supported by the NATO allies,' Basescu said.

He added that as far as energy security is concerned, the Strasbourg-Kehl NATO Summit was presented a report on the objectives achieved after the 2008 Bucharest NATO Summit as far as the involvement of NATO in both land and sea energy infrastructure security is concerned.
