Loading ...Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) and Amman Stock Exchange (Jordan) have signed on Monday, in Bucharest, a Memorandum of cooperation aimed at creating a general framework for the development of joint projects in the future.
According to BVB representatives, long-term cooperation between the two exchanges is mainly directed to the development of communication channels and of the business relation in general between the two sides. Amman Stock Exchange – ASE – is a private, non-profit company, with administrative and financial autonomy and has a 35 billion dollars capitalization.
Exchange capitalization accounts for 300 percent of Jordan's Gross Domestic Product, the number of issuers is 300 and the daily trading value is 15 million dollars, stated Amman Stock exchange CEO Jalil Tarif. He stressed that last year the Jordan Exchange saw a 25 percent decline on the international crisis backdrop, but performed better than the other exchanges in the region, which faced 60-75 percent slides.
"Cooperation with Amman Stock Exchange will be an opportunity for us to change the "best practice" notions in the field of the capital market. We are confident our cooperation with Amman Stock Exchange will be prolific because this will enhance BVB international visibility and contribute to business opportunities expansion for the participants on the capital market in Romania", stated BVB director general Anca Dumitru.
BVB event took place under the aegis of the Romanian-Jordanian Forum for Economic Partnership and Investments held the same day in Bucharest, under the high patronage of Romania's President Traian Basescu and of the King Abdullah of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
