Information in English

The Romanian and Jordanian investors can cooperate on the investments in producing energy from renewable resources, officials of the two states said at the Jordanian Romanian Business Forum on Monday.
'Romanian-Jordanian joint ventures could be set up to work together on such areas as energy, petro-chemistry, pharmaceutical industry, financial-banking services, tourism.

The  value  of  the commercial exchanges between Romania and Jordan is on an upward trend, having gone up to 35 billion dollars in 2008 from 15 billion dollars in 2003', said chairman of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mihail Vlasov.

'The Economy Ministry is currently focused on two directions. They deal with Romania's re industrialization and the energy sector respectively. One of the opportunities we have includes the use of the European funds on re-industrialization. At present, Romania is an energy stability factor. The gas crisis proved Romania can manage on its own in difficult situations and it can help other states too', Economy Minister Adriean Videanu said.

As far as the energy sector is concerned, the minister stressed 'this area is a big opportunity and a challenge at the same time. It is a good prerequisite for the private sector. This sector has both the experience and expertise to make good use of Romania' potential at this moment'. 'Jordan can be a very   attractive country to the Romanian investors. The two states have very good economic and political relations, which prompts us to try to attract as large a number of investors as possible', said Jordanian Minister of International Cooperation Suhair Al-Ali.

Romanian and Jordanian officials signed the Cooperation Programme between the Jordanian Investments Council and the Romanian Agency for Foreign Investments, the Cooperation Agreement between the Jordanian Chamber of Commerce and Chamber of Industries and the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industries, the Agreement on setting up a Jordanian-Romanian Business Council, the Cooperation Agreement between the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Amman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Collaboration Agreement between the Jordanian Banks Association and the Romanian Banks Association.
