Loading ...Romania needs the chance of a new beginning, and the change can be brought by the Social Democracy, after Romania had a right-wing ruling and a rightwing president, for four years, said late on Monday, on public TV, PSD head Mircea Geoana.
"In this electoral war we will use everything meaning the weapons of real democracy, I will try to keep the political debate in an area of principles and statements related to objective deeds. The fact that this war seems to be very tough, and the candidate trying to defend the trophy got five years ago tries to use elements which are not from this arsenal will not enjoy my attention.
A U -turn is needed in Romania… after five years of rightest rule, while the whole world turns a little bit to the left and when the G-20 summit put an end to a domination of almost 40 years, at least intellectual, of the neo-liberalism, which has led to this economic and financial crisis, after five years when the Romanians did not feel the advantages of a better economic time, the more so they will feel the effect of this crisis…" said the Social-Democrat president.
Geoana believes that the Romanians are disappointed, that they need normalcy and a president bringing them together around a common project.
"Not unended discord, disunion and scandal. I believe that Traian Basescu, without denying him some qualities has exhausted his historical destiny, and for the difficult period in store for us, Romania needs another kind of a leader, and the U -turn comes from the Social-Democrats…

The role I want to have for the good of this country is a role which suits me better. I believe I have proved that I am a well-balanced person. I have kept this big and complicated party together, I will also keep the country together, in a common project. We need to re -build some hope in the future, in this country," Geoana has also said.
