Romania will not use the mutuality in its relations with the Republic of Moldova, after the Chisinau authorities declared the Romanian Ambassador persona non-grata, Prime Minister Emil Boc announced on Wednesday (April 8), at Victoria Palace (Gov't headquarters).
Prime Minister underlined that Romania flatly denies the charges formulated by the Republic of Moldova authorities on alleged Romania's involvement into the internal affairs of this state.
'Romania estimates these charges represent an instigation against the Romanian state and views it unacceptable that the communist power in Chisinau attempts to transfer the responsibility for the internal problems in the Republic of Moldova on Romania and its citizens', said Emil Boc.
He announced no 'similar' measures will be taken, aimed at the staff of the Republic of Moldova Embassy to Bucharest and that Romania is going to keep in place the free visas system applied to Moldovan citizens.
The head of the Executive in Bucharest pointed out that Romania 'steadfastly' supported the Republic of Moldova independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and will continue its European approach in relation to the neighboring state, 'despite the anti-Romanian policy of the communist authorities in Chisinau'.
'At the same time, Romania will back Moldova to get closer to the European Union, including via projects addressed to youth wishing to study in Romania, as well as participation in some other European programmes devoted to this country's citizens', said the Prime Minister.President of the Republic of Moldova Vladimir Voronin alleged on Wednesday that certain forces in Romania are at the origin of the turmoil in Chisinau.
He announced that Romania's Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Filip Teodorescu was declared persona non grata and has to leave the Moldovan territory within 24 hours.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova on Wednesday declared Romanian Ambassador to Chisinau Filip Teodorescu and Minister Counselor at the Romanian Embassy Gabriel Gaborean persona non grata and the Government of the Republic of Moldova has announced on Wednesday it decided in an extraordinary meeting to set visa rules for the Romanian nationals by a Resolution to take force on Thursday, April 9.
The reunited foreign policy commissions of the two Chambers of Parliament in Romania are to organize hearings for Romania's new Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, on Wednesday evening, Mihnea Constantinescu being the most frequently mentioned name.
