8 aprilie 2009

Information in English

Romania, in its capacity as a new EU member state, tries to follow the steps of Spain and to repeat this country's success within the Union in terms of integration and devotion to European building, according to the Romanian Ambassador to Spain Maria Ligor, who participated on Monday, April 6, in  the  inauguration  of  the  Europe  Direct information centre  in  Coslada (Madrid Community), managed by the federation of the Romanian Associations in Spain (FEDROM).

'New members such as Romania try to repeat the successful integration of Spain with the EU, with Romania trying to learn and take advantage of the other members' experience in managing projects with the European community,' Maria Ligor said on this occasion, also qualifying Spain as a country devoted to European building: 'things have changed in Romania since January 1, 2007, when the country became a EU member state,' the Romanian Ambassador said, and the change was felt for the Romanians living in Spain too who, in 2 years from now, benefit from the right to vote in the European and local elections, enjoy freedom and other benefits of the common market and also the essential right to work free,' the Romanian Ambassador reminded.

This direct line of the inhabitants in Coslada with the Europe enjoys a privileged location, in the opinion of Ambassador Ligor, for it is about a city 'that was transformed into an example for what it is the European way of understanding integration and living together,' with the inauguration of such a centre,' managed by a federation of the Romanian Associations in Spain, speaking itself of a Europe without borders, focused on communication.'

Improving communication is, according to the Romanian diplomat, a primordial challenge of today's Europe, found in a complicated process of reform of institutions. That's why, the Romanian Ambassador considers, 'people need to be told what Europe can do for them, how Europe can influence  their'  every day life, how  it can solve  its  problems, how  people  can influence  their decisions.'
