Political analyst Iosif Boda told on Thursday that through Prince Radu candidacy for Romania's Presidency the Royal House gives up "for good" the return of monarchy.
"Prince Radu candidates as a simple Romanian citizens, in a republic.
As such, the Royal House gives up for good the idea to re -establish the monarchy as the state's ruling form", stated Boda.
He underlined that, despite being "impressed" by the qualities and qualifications of the prince, he does not believe he will win the electoral race.
UDMR president Marko Bela stated he cannot evaluate the support Prince Radu might gather in the electoral race for Cotroceni because he was not active on the political arena up to now. "I cannot judge the support base of Mr. Radu Duda because, so far, he was not active on the political scene", UDMR leader told, adding that, later on, most likely following an opinion poll, the chances and support for the Royal House representative, seeking the office of the President of Romania , will be revealed.
PNL founding president Radu Campeanu stated that Prince Radu is not a valid candidate for Romania's Presidency and his entrance the electoral race could mean an advantage for Traian Basescu. "I do not think he is a valid candidate and I believe the candidacy of such a man is to the advantage of Mr. Basescu, or this is a negative move on the Romanian political scene because a re election of Mr. Basescu is a negative thing for Romania", said Campeanu.
Prince Radu candidacy to Romania's Presidency is at least interesting from the Conservative Party standpoint, said PC spokesman Bogdan Ciuca. "From our point of view this is an interesting candidacy due to the position of this candidate. I do not know what are his chances but, in a way, will have a more colorful electoral race, an atypical one at any rate", said Bogdan Ciuca.
PRM vice-president Lucian Bolcas appreciated in a statement given that Prince Radu did nothing for Romania to deserve to be elected president of the country, and that he is just "an actor, and not one of the best". "Who is this Prince Radu Duda? According to our information, the Hohenzollern House does not recognize his princely title and his profession is one of a theatrical performer and looks like not being one of the best in this field either.
What has he done for Romania outside the fact that he spent the money, freely given to him by Tariceanu Government, for personal interest trips?", Lucian Bolcas put a rhetorical question, hinting at the period when the prince held the office of Romania's Government special representative.
Prince Radu is going to announce his candidacy tothe Presidency of Romania on Thursday evening, the Royal House informed.
