The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) indignantly took note of the decision made by the Chisinau authorities on Romania's Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Filip Teodorescu and categorically rejects the accusations made by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova referring to Romania's alleged involvement in the domestic affairs of this state, informs MAE in a press release.
"MAE emphasizes the fact that this accusation is a provocation to the Romanian State. It is unacceptable for the communist power in Chisinau to transfer the responsibility for the domestic problems of the Republic of Moldova to Romania and Romanian citizens," reads the release which describes as "aberrant" the unilateral steps meant to impose the travelling restrictions announced by President Vladimir Voronin.
MAE also mentioned the fact that Romania would not take similar steps concerning the staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Bucharest and would stick to the free visa system for Moldovan citizens.
Romania consistently supported the independence, sovereignly and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and will go having a European approach in its relations with the neighbouring state despite the anti-Romanian policy of the communist authorities in Chisinau, also reads the above mentioned release.
Romania will keep supporting the Republic of Moldova getting closer to the European Union, the projects meant for the young people wanting to study in Romania included, as well as participating in other European programmes meant for the citizens of this country. The Romanian diplomacy made known its position to the partners in the European and EuroAtlantic community.
The Moldovan authorities declared the Romanian Ambassador in Chisinau persona non grata and Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin on Wednesday accused Romania of getting involved in the ongoing protests in the Republic of Moldova. He also introduced again compulsory visas for Romanian citizens.
