Loading ...The foreign policy commissions of the Senate and the Deputies' Chamber call on the Romanian Government to 'take energetic action within the European Union structures in order to re-evaluate the electoral and post-electoral situation in the Republic of Moldova, in the light of the information and evidence invoked by the Moldovan political opposition with respect to the elections having been rigged in this country as well as to guarantee the respect of the European-type democratic standards in a EU partner state'.
According to a press release signed by the chairmen of the two commissions, the Moldovan authorities have the obligation to clarify the serious accusations of election rigging made by the opposition parties and the civil society in that country.
The signatories voice hope the developments in the Republic of Moldova 'will not alter the European route of the Republic of Moldova to which Romania and the Bucharest Parliament stay fully committed'.
The Parliament's foreign policy commissions formally reject the 'groundless' accusations 'of the communist leadership of the Republic of Moldova' as well as the 'provocative moves and the decision to declare the Romanian ambassador in Chisinau persona non-grata and the re-imposing of visas for the Romanian residents'.
The two commission chairmen, senator Titus Corlatean and deputy Laszlo Borbely respectively call on the Moldovan authorities 'not to make use of non-democratic means against the Moldovan citizens and the opposition parties, to promote the political dialogue and the democratic behaviour in the Moldovan society, particularly at times of crisis and to respect the principles of good neighbourliness and the European democratic norms'.
