Victor Piturca fired as Romania’s national soccer team coach

Victor Piturca has been fired as the national team coach by the Executive Committee of the Romanian Soccer Federation after the team finished next -to-last in its European qualifying group for the 2010 World Cup.
Victor Piturca led Romania's national soccer team (under two mandates) in 62 matches, the last against Austria (lost by 1-2), in Klagenfurt, in the preliminaries to the 2010 World Cup.
 
In the 62 matches at the national soccer team helm Piturca won 36 victories, 13 draws and 13 defeats, with the goal average 105-46.
 
On own field, in 30 matches Piturca succeeded 21 victories, 4 draws and 5 defeats, with the goal average 65-20, whereas abroad, in 21 matches he won 12 victories, 4 draws and 5 defeats, with the goal average 29-16. Other 11 matches were played on neutral soccer fields, with 3 victories, 5 draws and 3 defeats, with 11 scored goals and 10 received.
 
In the official matches, Piturca's balance is 36, with 21 victories, 8 draws and 7 defeats, the goal average 60-28 and in friendly matches – 26 – he got 15 victories, 5 draws and 6 defeats, with the goal average 45-19.
