Loading ...Romania is not going to provide an occasion to the President of the Republic of Moldova, Vladimir Voronin, to raise an iron curtain on Prut, stated President Traian Basescu on Monday evening.
"Certainly, he (Vladimir Voronin – editor's note) can decide or can attempt to raise an iron curtain on Prut. We will not provide him such an opportunity because we behave like Europeans, fully responsible, not toward President Voronin, but toward those four million Romanians living in Moldova, four million Romanians citizens of the Republic of Moldova, part of this people", stated Basescu.
He added that, so far, he abstained making comments on this aspect because he wished to have a general analysis on what had happened there.
"As for the Republic of Moldova I want you to know that , on one hand, we proved a lot of patience, so that we have a complete analysis on what had happened in the Republic of Moldova and, on the other hand, it deemed to me that to respond to President Voronin over the fence is exactly the game he was seeking to engage Romania into", stated the head of state.
He also said he does not wish to enter details related to this aspect because, on Tuesday, he will give a 30-minute speech in the Parliament dedicated to events in Moldova and to "the groundless accusations brought by the authorities in Chisinau, including by President Voronin, against Romania".
