Loading ...The Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not receive any notification from which one should infer that the Moldovan authorities called back their Ambassador and neither was Romania's Embassy in Chisinau informed of such a thing, MAE spokesman Alin Serbanescu told.
According to the customary diplomatic law, the states notify the authorities of the receiving state, Romania in this case, when the ambassador leaves the country and, as a courtesy gesture, they inform the embassy of the country in question included. The Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations establishes that "Where possible, prior notification of arrival and final departure [of the members of a mission] shall also be given."
A lot of members of the diplomatic staff of the two missions of the Republic of Moldova in Bucharest, the Embassy and the Consulate, left Romania, say some sources.
The Government in Chisinau also calls Lidia Gutu back from her position as Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Romania.
The Government is to make a decision in this respect during its meeting on Thursday. During the same meeting Lidia Gutu is to be appointed Ambassador to Bulgaria. Lidia Gutu was summoned on April 8 for consultations in the Republic of Moldova in the context of the anti-communist protests in Chisinau of whose staging President Vladimir Voronin accused Bucharest.
At present Romania has no accredited Ambassador in Chisinau, after the Moldovan authorities declared Ambassador Filip Teodorescu persona non grata and diplomat Mihnea Constantinescu has not yet got the agrément of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova to start his mission.
