Loading ...11 Romanian sailors aboard a ship owned by a German company, flying an Antiguan flag, were kidnapped Tuesday evening by Somali pirates in the Aden Gulf.
According to statements by Adrian Mihalcioiu, leader of the Free Union of Navigators the cargo ship Victoria was on the security corridor, in a convoy and was swept right from under the noses of the warships providing security for the ships in the area. The cargo ship loaded with 10,000 tons of rice had left India and was heading in a convoy towards Saudi Arabia.
“We have contacted the crew recruitment company and they assured us the procedures will be followed in order to make contact with the kidnappers and free the prisoners. So far the cases involving Romanian sailors have been resolved even if sometimes negotiations took over a month.”
