Tourism Ministry to open resident office in United Arab Emirates

The Romanian Tourism Ministry will open a resident office in the United Arab Emirates and the Tourism Authorities in Sharjah and Dubai plan to open offices in Romania and to identify cooperation ways in the field, Tourism Ministry’s release reads.

During her visit to the United Arab Emirates, Minister Elena Udrea was attending the official opening ceremony of the International Arabian Travel Market Tourism Fair, the most important tourism exhibition in the Middle East. On this special occasion Romania’s Tourism Minister met with the heads of the Tourism Authorities of the Emirates Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, the deputy Minister of Foreign Commerce Abdalla Sleh, business people, potential investors in the Romanian tourism industry.

The UAE business people showed much interest in investing in the balneal tourism in the vicinity of Bucharest and in the Black Sea resorts. A group of potential investors in the Persian Golf area are expected to visit Romania early in June, Minister Udrea stressed adding she had met the officials of the Emirates Air Lines that are to examine the possibility to schedule regular flights to Bucharest.

The president of the Tourism Authority of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan showed readiness to create in his government a special department for the relation to Romania whose main goal is the development of the bilateral relations in tourism.

During the meeting with the UAE partners, it were discussed possible investment projects in Romania, with the participation of the business people of the UAE and the adjacent area.
Over the days ahead Minister Udrea will also meet other officials of the political and the economic life of the Emirates.
