Makers and traders of wines, at International Wine Competition in Bucharest

More than 30 makers and traders of wines from Romania and abroad will participate in by some 200 samples in the 6th edition of the International Contest of Wines in Bucharest, which will be held May 7-10.

According to a press release of the National Employers Association of Vineyards and Wine (PNVV), in the competition, participating will be producers and traders from Argentina, Australia, Bulgaria, Chile, France, Germany, Spain, Hungary and Romania, which shows that it is a benchmark of the industry of wine in Romania, showing increased interest of the wine producers worldwide for testing the potential of the Romanian market.

This international contest is among the few which have succeeded to win continuity in organization of late, which demonstrates that it is one of the benchmarks of the industry of wine in Romania.

The members of jury of the contest are recognized personalities from the world of wine abroad (Belgium, France, Germany, Britian, Slovakia, Hungary) and from Romania.

Following the testing scheduled to be held at the Romanian Academy on May 8 and 9, granted will be some 60 gold and silver medals ( maximum 30 percent of the total number of wines in the competition.

In 2008, in Romania produced were some 3.2 million hectoliters of wine of noble varieties.

The main objective of the sector of Romanian wine production is the reconversion and restructuring of the varieties, more than that, an increase in the percentage of the vineyard varieties for the red wines. From 2009, following the adoption of the Reform of the Organization of the Common Market of Wine, Romania benefits from an annual budget worth 42 million euros.
