Banks reluctant to support investment projects

The banks are very reluctant to supporting investment projects in all sectors, the energy one included, state secretary with the Economy Ministry Tudor Serban said Thursday, May 7.

He underscored that talks with the EBRD and the World Bank are under way and, though there are agreements regarding investment projects in Turceni, Rovinari and Isalnita (southern Romania), getting banks involved is very difficult.

“That calls for a change of strategy, giving up some projects and starting new ones,” Serban said.

Among the projects to be conducted in the upcoming period are groups three and four with the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant, the power plant in Tarnita, the Constanta-Turkey submarine cable, the Galati thermal plant, the power plants in Oerastie and Fantanele and so on.

“All these projects are being discussed and a memorandum was signed at the Govt for some of them,” Tudor Serban explained.
