According to the most recent estimations of the media and fans, Romania’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest, Elena Gheorghe, ranks 12th in people’s preferences at the first semifinal, a chart opened by Regina, the representative of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Before the first rehearsal with audience Elena won 1,100 votes, while Regina took 1,700 votes.
The first semifinal also includes Iceland, Turkey, Sweden, Switzerland, Malta, Armenia, Finland, Israel and Portugal, while Norway, Azerbaijan, Greece, Estonia, Ukraine, Moldova, Denmark, Albania, Hungary and Serbia are favored by the media and fans in the second semifinal.
Elena, no. 14th in the Tuesday semifinal, will perform a song entitled “The Balkan Girls”, composed by Laurentiu Duta.
Also competing in the same semifinal are Montenegro, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Belarus, Sweden, Armenia, Andorra, Switzerland, Turkey, Israel, Bulgaria, Iceland, Macedonia, Finland, Portugal, Malta, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Eurovision final will be held on may 16th. According to the new contest’s new regulation, the representatives of France, England, the UK, Spain and Germany, countries that take part in the contest’s organization, alongside the winner of this year’s edition, qualify directly to the final.
