Over 30 Romanian and foreign wine producers and distributors participated with about 200 samples in this year’s edition, organized by the PNVV and the Agriculture Ministry.
The contest was held under the patronage of the International Vine and Wine Organization, whose representative, the organization’s deputy general director Yann Juban, said that “since the first edition until today we have noticed an evolution, in terms of quality, of the wines presented in the contest.”
Attending the contest were 36 producers, of whom 26 Romanian and 10 foreign, with 201 samples of which 174 Romanian and 27 from countries like Argentina, Australia, Bulgaria, Chile, France, Germany, Spain and Hungary.
As many as 61 medals were awarded, of which 27 gold (17 for Romania) and 34 silver (29 for Romania).
According to the organizers, a good thing is that the young wines got a lot of medals.
“I have been taking part in the Bucharest International Wine Contest and I am happy to notice that an increasing number of Romanian wines are considered very good or excellent. I am also happy to see that my participation as jury member has improved the image of the contest and I am sure it will soon acquire international fame,” IWO vice president Reiner Wittkowsji said.
