Loading ...The two senior officials held talks on the implementation of the readmission Agreement of persons signed by Romania’s Government and Switzerland on June 13, 2008 in Zurich and enforced on January 18, 2009, reads a release of the Romanian Ministry of Interior and the Administration.
The agreement stipulates the readmission of the citizens of the two states illegally staying on their territory and of citizens of third countries.
Also approached was the issue of police cooperation, the fight against human trafficking, smuggling of migrants, as well Romania’s preparation for the accession to the Schengen space, considering Switzerland participates in the incumbent Schengen assessment on Romania.
On the agenda of the two officials was also the stage of implementation of the extension to Romania of the Agreement on free movement between the European Union and Switzerland which obtained the favorable vote of the Swiss citizens at the referendum which took place on February 8, 2009, reads the release.
Also on Tuesday, the head of the head of the Federal Department of Justice and Police will go to Timisoara (western Romania) to visit the Emergency Transit Centre for refugees (CTU). In the center refugees are temporarily taken over in view to their relocation to another state that will take them over definitely.
The CTU is supported the United Nations High Commissariat for Refugees, the International Organization for Migration and Romania’s Government, being the first one of this type open in Romania.
