Basescu: The goal of the visit to France is to strengthen strategic partnership

The official visit of Romania’s President to the Republic of France aims to strengthen the strategic partnership signed last year in Bucharest, on the occasion of the visit by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, said on Monday Traian Basescu.

Before heading for Paris, where he will pay a two-day visit, Traian Basescu said that the visit includes meetings with French President, with the PM and with president of the National Assembly.

On the visit’s agenda are also meetings with the business community, with Romanians of France, but also with secretary general of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Considering it is a working visit, the ministers who accompany me will have separate meetings, said Basescu.

Along the visit there will be no conferences or press statements.
The next press statement will be made at the return to Bucharest, on the airport, said Traian Basescu.

The official delegation includes Foreign Affairs Minister Cristian Diaconescu, Economy Minister Adriean Videanu, Transport Minister Radu Berceanu and Tourism Minister Elena Udrea, as well as former tennis player Ilie Nastase.
