“We had an extremely substantial discussion on Romania’s aspirations to hold an important portfolio in the future European Commission as well as in connection with Romania’s wish that an important EU agency be headquartered in Bucharest.
This would be the first European institution to be headquartered in Bucharest,” said the Romanian Head of State on Tuesday, when he came back from the two-day official visit he paid to France.
Traian Basescu mentioned too that he had also talked with his French counterpart about the future European construction and the necessity that the Lisbon Treaty come into force as soon as possible.
“The evaluations I made together with President Sarkozy are related to the hope that, by the end of this year, this autumn, Ireland will give a yes vote to the Lisbon Treaty,” added President Basescu.
