CSM to host ENCJ General Assembly meeting

Romania’s Supreme Council of Magistrates (CSM) will play host, May 27-29, to the 7th meeting of the General Assembly of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary (ENCJ), CSM reports on a press release.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Parliament Palace in Bucharest and tackle transparency and access to justice.
CSM has invited to attend delegations from all the 18 ENCJ member councils, 12 delegations from the councils for the judiciary or justice ministries that are ENCJ observers, as well as officials of the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Consultative Council of European Judges, the Court of Justice of the European Communities, the European Judicial Training Network and the Network of Presidents of Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union.
Romania’s Supreme Council of Magistrates (CSM) became a member of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary on January 1, 2007.
The European Network of Councils for the Judiciary was officially established in Rome on May 20, 2004, when the ENCJ Charter was approved. Its main aim is to preserve and develop the European Union as an area of freedom, security and justice.
In 2008, ENCJ became a non-profit organisation with a legal personality, with a permanent establishment in Brussels and own leading bodies. It currently has 18 members and 12 observers.
