European MP Adrian Severin (the Social Democratic Party, PSD, in ruling coalition), former Foreign Minister of Romania, is urging the European Union (EU) to ask the Republic of Moldova “to be more friendly towards Romania”.
Attending a meeting with business people in Botosani (north-east) on Monday, Adrian Severin underlined that it not natural that Romania, which is an EU member, is treated otherwise than the other member states and the special visa regime is applied just in the case of Romanian citizens.
“The absence of Romanian business people from the Republic of Moldova is more than regrettable. And I say it from national standpoint. You cannot have business people from all the nations, less from Romania, in the Republic of Moldova. This is no longer an economic policy issue, but a foreign policy one”, said Severin, who also blamed the fact that “Romania has still a reduced influence within the EU”.
Adrian Severin who visits Botosani as a candidate from PSD + PC Alliance in the Euro¬parliamentary elections on June 7, underlined the need of opening the Eastern market mainly for the counties in Moldova area.
