President Traian Basescu said in Braila (eastern Romania) on Friday that his latest meeting with the banks of Romania had been a great disappointment.
‘I confess it was as if I were in front of loss-making companies eager to see how they could get something from the state. We have to find solutions in other banks than the Romanian ones if they fail seriously committing themselves as part in the Romanian economy.
The Government will have to find alternative crediting solutions, ‘ said Basescu.
The president called on the banks to get involved in helping Romania to emerge from the economic crisis because the Government had kept all its promises to them.
‘I’m not saying the banks have ever had or still have no difficulties. Some of the difficulties are self-made, but after the talks they had with me, they no longer have me as their supporter, as long as they fail starting moving and resuming credits and lower the outrageous interests,’ Basescu stressed.
