Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc on Friday told a press conference in the southern city of Alexandria, that the ‘First Home’ programme, which continues to be submitted to a daily analysis like ‘commentaries are brought to commentaries’, is to be enforced starting on June 20, with Romanians to be able from this date on to contract with the banks loans guaranteed by the state of up to 60,000 euros.
With the Emergency Ordinance having been published on Friday (June 4, editor’s note) in the Official Gazette, all those Romanians who do not own a house will be able ‘from today’ to enter this programme, the Premier said, also adding that the programme doesn’t exclude the other construction programme the Government has been developing via the Ministry of Regional Development and Housing:
‘We will continue to develop the other programmes too: the ANL (Romania’s Housing Agency) programme, the social housing programme and also the programme under which we build houses for those who were evacuated from their homes taken back by former owners from whom the former Communist regime had confiscated them,’ the Prime Minister said.
He also mentioned that the banks show an increasing interest in this programme, with 20 banks showing now ready to get involved, from 16 before. These banks will accept to cut their interest and exchange rate and also the conditions of an advance of maximum 5 percent, have offices nationwide and agree with the methodological norms.
