Citizens from 19 states member of the European Union are expected on Sunday to cast their votes for the European Parliament, in an election marathon to be ended after 4 days.
Electors from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy (where people voted on Saturday too), Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Hungary are expected to cast their votes for the European Parliament on Sunday.
The results from the other countries having already voted (starting June 4) in the euro¬parliamentary polls – the UK, the Netherlands, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Slovakia, Cyprus, Malta and Italy – will be officially made public late this evening (Sunday), after 8 p.m. GMT, when the ballot boxes will be opened in all the EU member states.
There are approximately 388 million Europeans having the right to vote in this edition of the European elections. After the first voting days, a record low turnout figure was seen, even lower than the one recorded at the previous editions of the elections for the EP, when only 54.6 percent of the European electors had voted.
