Romanian nationals who are registered on the lists from another EU state, irrespective whether they vote or not on these lists, will no longer have the right to cast vote for Romania’s representatives in the European Parliament, but they will have vote only the members of the state on whose lists they are registered, according to the incumbent legislation.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) recommends Romanian nationals outside country to allow for the specificities on the vote abroad and to show up in due time in order to cast vote.
When showing up at the poling station from abroad, each Romanian national will be checked in the lists communicated by the Permanent Electoral Authority, which includes the people who may cast vote at the European polls in another EU country.
This fact can generates a certain delay in the unfolding of the vote, warns MAE.
About 90,000 Romanians of EU countries voiced wish to vote on Sunday the at European elections for the candidates of the countries in which they are and not for those from Romania, the Permanent Electoral Authority informs.
According to the Permanent Electoral Authority, out of the 98,373 Romanian voters of EU countries, most are expected to vote in Spain (49,317 voters) , followed by Italy (28,467 voters), UK (3,555 voters) and Germany (1,414 voters).
Casting a vote at the elections for the European Parliament might also be Romanians from Austria (592 voters), Belgium (729 voters), Cyprus (836 voters), Denmark (133 voters), Finland (41 voters), France (708 voters), Greece (188 voters), Ireland (64 voters), Malta (35 voters), the Netherlands (353 voters), Poland (2 voters), Portugal (212 voters), Slovenia (5 voters), Sweden (288 voters), Hungary (2,423 voters), Bulgaria, Lithuania and Estonia (three voters).
The Standing Electoral Authority said that the fewest eligible voters were registered in the Czech Republic and Latvia, with one voter each.
