The Democratic Liberal Party (PD-L) and the Social Democratic Party (P SD) (partners in the ruling coalition) are trying to impose the idea of no real opposition existing in Romania right now, with the presidential elections this autumn to bring no more than two candidates before the Romanian, Traian Basescu and Mircea Geoana, the leader of the Romanian National Liberal Party (PNL, in opposition) Crin Antonescu said.
Crin Antonescu drew the attention, on the occasion of a press conference on Sunday at the PNL central headquarters in Bucharest, that the Social Democrats ‘led by Geoana’ only simulate the opposition, while the real opposition being represented in Romania by the Liberals.
‘Opposition in Romania does exist and I speak for this opposition. There exist people in Romania who are not stealing, who are not lying lies, and I speak for them,’ the Liberal leader underlined.
On the other hand, Crin Antonescu invited the Prime Minister Emil Boc, who is also the PD- L leader, and Mircea Geoana, the PSD leader, to participate together in a public debate on such issues of a present and future interest for Romania generated by the global financial downturn.
‘We have a Government coming with no solution for the huge economic problems Romania now has and it will have in the upcoming future too. I ask thus the leaders of the two ruling parties to participate with me in a public debate on such issues,’ the PNL leader also said.
