Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs (MAE) on July 1 will made available for the Romanian citizens abroad a new system to check their data in real time, meant to help them obtain more rapid the confirmation of identity and of the documents they ask for, Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Cristian Diaconescu told a press conference on Sunday.
‘This system will help the citizens solve more quickly their requests for the marriage certificates, for the confirmation of their driving licenses, will help the Romanian citizens abroad who are found in difficult situation to solve their problems more easily, as it should be in a modern consular system,’ Cristian Diaconescu explained.
Thus, once the Romanian citizen has made the request and sent it to the consulate, the authorities would be able to check his/hers data directly via MAE, on a safe line.
The Minister also added there are approx. 12,000 requests for checking data registered at MAE from Romanians abroad.
So far, the Romanian citizens asking for the confirmation of their identity for marriage certificates were forced to wait for several days or even weeks, the Minister said, showing that from now on such problems will be solved in no more than a day.
Moreover, according to Diaconescu, MAE will also simplify another disturbing procedure for those who travel abroad and who are at some point pulled over by the traffic policemen on the European roads.
‘It will be possible that, if the policeman becomes suspicious about the validity of the driving license, by only contacting the consular office to immediately check the data he/she needs about the driver,’ Diaconescu said.
The system will become operational on June 22.
