A switch on an upward trend of the Romanian economy might be seen late in 2009, with experts saying growth might be recorded in December against November, CEC Bank Chairman Radu Ghetea stated on Thursday.
‘Close to the end of the year we could be able to talk about a recovery of the economy. A switch on an upward trend, with December to record growth compared on November,’ Ghetea said.
According to the CEC Chairman, there cannot be something like ‘running after the banking interests, with the Stock Exchange not offering something spectacular right now,’ and in 2009 the banks will focus mainly on stability and less on profitability.
Ghetea also added that if it the rains will go on, but without reaching the point wherefrom they will cause damage, the agriculture could bring positive effects to the Romanian economy.
‘There was created also the possibility agriculture-related businesses to become more easily accepted by the banks,’ he also added.
CEC Bank saw a growth worth 24.3 percent in legal persons, crediting in the first five months of the year.
