As many as 106,221 companies stopped working or halted work in H1 2009, compared with 14,501 in the similar period in 2008, opting for being written off or dissolving, said spokesman for the National Office of the Trade Register (ONRC) Alina Sarbu.
According to the data released by ONRC, this year 17,917 companies opted for being written off from the Trade Register, compared with 5,965 in H 1 2008.
In 2009, the voluntary dissolving were preferred by 8,291 companies, while last year only 1,838 ceased operation in this way.
When it comes to halts of activity, the statistics of ONRC show that Jan through June last year there were 6,698 companies, while in H1 this year registered were 80,013 companies, that halted activity for three years at the most.
The counties with the biggest number of halts of activity have been in 2009 those of Cluj (center-west 4,945), Brasov (center – 4,077), Iasi (east – 2,944), Constanta (south-east – 2,285) and Timis (west 2,826).
But the “champion” of H1 2009 is Bucharest, with 12,527 companies that halted their activity.
At the other extreme, with the fewest halts there were the counties of Giurgiu (south – 474), Teleorman (south – 479) and Mehedinti (south – 542).
The situation of voluntary disbanding in 2009 indicate Bucharest as ranking first, with 2,689 companies, and the counties of Giurgiu and Calarasi (south) coming last, with 11 companies each.
In H1 2008, the county of Mures (center) had the biggest number of writing-offs (480) but this year, the first position can come to Bucharest (1,500) and the county of Prahova (south) (1,037 companies).
