The Portile de Fier (Iron Gates) I power plant located at the 942+950 km on the Danube River, supplied the third billionth KWh to the National Energy System, on Wednesday.
The achievement of the power plant in Mehedinti County (south west), over Jan 1 – July 8, was made possible despite the vacillation in the Danube’s flow, because each of the six hydro- aggregates of the plant were re-equipped and grew their output from 177 to 194.4 MW.
The Romanian Portile de Fier hydropower station increased its installed power to 1,166.4 MW from 1,050 MW, as it supplied before the ten-year re-equipment programme that started in 2000, the Hidroelectrica electricity maker informed.
The Portile de Fier I electricity plant is expected to supply 5,241 GWh, during an average hydrological year.
