Prof. dr. Constantin Dumitrache, from the Endocrinology Institute C.I. Parhon, of Bucharest, said that 60 percent of the Romanians have trouble because they are too fat, and 30 percent are obese.

The specialist told on Tuesday, that the situation makes Romania rank 3rd in Europe, before countries such as Germany and the Czech Republic.

Considering sexes, 28 percent of the men are affected by obesity and 30 percent of the women, said prof.dr. Dumitrache.

The situation is alarming among children, 50 percent of them are thought to be too fat, and 15 percent are obese.

In the opinon of the doctor, the main reason for this situation is the change in the life style, in the food habitudes, but especially the lack of exercise.
Dumitrache thinks that the current food behaviour of children has to be changed.

In this context, according to the specialist, many children have diabetes, when they are only 15, they also have troubles with their metabolism and with their sexual behaviour.

The doctor cautioned that for prevention in the field, a balance has to be kept between intake and outtake.
