According to her, the initial budget allocated to the ministry stood at 397.3 billion lei, and it was reduced by 11 percent at the budget rectification, to 352.6 billion lei, namely 0.06 of the GDP.
Elena Udrea said that the most consistent activity field is the development, accounting for 73 percent of the allocated budget, to financially support investment projects in the tourist infrastructure field, projects promoted by the local authorities.
MT promotion fund represents 41.69 million lei, namely 12 percent of the ministry’s budget, of which 25.8 percent used so far.
“More exactly, for MT promotional activities till now the ministry allocated 13.336 million lei, namely approximately three million euros. MT-funded projects of the local public administration were approved through HG 1762/2006 and only then their financing was started”, underlined Udrea.
The Minister underlined that these projects are included in four national sub-programmes, respectively “Ski Romania”, “Development of spa tourism”, “Development of tourism in the Danube Delta and on the seaside” and “Infrastructure development in high mountain zone”.
As well, Elena Udrea announced that MT is to prepare a new travel industry product, tourist cruises in 2010.
The “Silk Road” project is to transform Bucharest into the “Capital of Tourism” in 2010, Minister Elena Udrea also announced.
“We are co-organizers of the “Silk Road” through which we succeeded to replace Bulgaria with Romania. The project is to be run next year and will transform Bucharest into the “Capital of Tourism”, said Udrea.
