According to the quoted source, the value of exports in the first three months this year dropped by 17 percent from the similar period in 2008, when a quantum of 4.1 million euros was reported.
Major exports went to Germany, the total quantity being of approximately 1,900 tons, 16.25 percent lower compared to Q1 of 2008, in value of over 1.3 million euros. Ranking second is Denmark, where Romania exported some 345 tons, the equivalent of 312,000 euros.
Third comes Bulgaria, with 201.3 tons, in the value of 204,000 euros.
As for the imports, in Q1 of 2009, some 810 tons of wine from Spain reached Romania, in the value of 449,000 euros, a slump of 83.5 percent from the similar period in 2008.
As well, a quantity of 729 tons of Italian wines was sold in the local stores in the first three months of the year, in value of 829,000 euros, a 56.8 percent decline as against the first quarter of 2008.
The Republic of Moldova ranked the third, with 398 tons, in value of 517,700 euros, showing a decline of 37.8 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
Overall, the imports in the first three months of 2009 stood at 2,624 tons, a 68.8 drop from the first quarter of 2008, when a value of 8,431 tons was reported.
At present, the largest share on the Romanian wines market, nationwide, is held by Murfatlar, with 28 percent, but cumulated both white and red wines, followed by Cotnari, with 19 percent (just white wines) and Jidvei, with 14 percent (whites and reds).
