“Through the contracts signed today we exceed 1 billion euros at an exchange rate of 4.2 lei for 1 euro under the Regional Operational Program,” B laga said.
He underscored he planned to reach the level of 2 billion euros contracts financed under ROP by year-end, and that he had a talk with the PM on this matter.
The total budget allotted to Romania under the ROP program is 4.4 billion euros in the first seven years after the accession (2007-2013).
The EU financing covers 84 percent and the rest of the amount comes from national funds, public co- financing (14%) and private co-financing (2%).
Blaga also announced that he intended to signed the financing contracts by the end of 2011, before the deadline set for December 31, 2013.
The 1-billion financing is for 446 contracts. Most contracts financed under ROP are aimed for regional and local infrastructure projects, as well as social infrastructure and tourism.
