Currency in circulation as of June 30, 2009, was standing at RON 24.221 billion (nearly 5.69 billion euros), up 0.3 percent on a monthly basis and 2.6 percent year-on-year, while overnight deposits totalled RON 57.484 billion (nearly 13.5 billion euros), up 3.2 percent from May and down 14.6 percent from June 2008.
Data with the BNR also indicate that deposits with an agreed maturity of up to and including two years (including also deposits redeemable at notice of up to and including three months) advanced to RON 97.804 billion (nearly 23 billion euros), up 1.1 percent from May and 38.7 percent from the similar month of the year before.
Net foreign assets were down 20.2 percent in June 2009 from May 2009 and down 46.4 percent from June 2008, standing at RON 8.664 billion (nearly 2 billion euro) as of end-June 2009, while net domestic assets were up 3.2 percent in June 2009 from May 2009 and up 18.1 percent from June 2008, standing at RON 171.689 billion (nearly 40.3 billion euros).
